Community Charity Program

The ING New York City Marathon Community Charity Program is a new initiative by New York Road Runners to provide 100 U.S.-based charities with five guaranteed entries each into the ING New York City Marathon 2010. These entries are to be used by each charity organization to raise a minimum of $2,500 per runner for its tax-exempt purposes. NYRR will select these 100 charities on April 19, 2010, with an emphasis on organizations based in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens or Staten Island. Applicants will be notified soon after the selection date.

Please complete this application by April 12, 2010, and fax it, along with your IRS Determination letter of 501(C)(3) status and most recent IRS Form 990 to 917-591-1726. Applicants can also scan and e-mail this information to charities@nyrr.org. Please include “Community Charity Program Application” in the subject line.

Selected charities will receive further information on the program and will have to complete a contract with NYRR to be included in the program. If you have additional questions, please e-mail charities@nyrr.org.

It is expected that through its own promotional activities, the selected charities will be able to recruit individuals to enter the marathon using their allotment of entries. The charities may not offer entries for auction. NYRR will list charities accepted into this program, by name only, within the charities section of the Marathon website.

Please note that only charities that have been a 501(C)(3) prior to January 1, 2009, are eligible to apply.
